Tasks Progress - Different progress types?

I know you can potentially have different task progress methods (% Complete,
Actual Work, Hours by day or week) across different projects depending on the
mode selected.

However, is it possible to have different tasks being updated on different
progress methods?

For example, i have a client that wants to use Hours per day for their
internal resources (they will charge time to one particular set of tsks) but
then have 3rd party contractors/vendors update another set of tasks (but in
the same project schedule) using %Complete.

These updates to tasks would be done via PWA - Tasks.

I don't believe this will work, but thought i'd find out for sure.

This isn't supported in the application and there aren't any good
workarounds other than to split the tasks between two plans.
