Tasks with 0 Actual Hours Still Show on Timesheets

I have followed all the instructions for archiving a project from the Project
Experts website, unfortunately some completed tasks are still showing on
timesheets. The situation is that any tasks that have been cancelled (no
resources ever worked on the tasks) are still showing, but are disabled for
entering hours. Any tasks that Resource A never had hours against, but
Resource B had hours against, are still showing on Resource A's timesheet and
are open for entering time against. Is there any way to keep these tasks from
showing up (besides deleting them from the database--we need to retain the
data)?

There are several options I can think of depending on what you want to
accomplish:
1) If Resource B has performed all the work necessary to complete the work
on the task then I would remove Resource A since they didn't do any work.
This would remove the task from Resouce A's timesheet and the task can then
be marked 100% complete.
2)Mark the task as 100% complete in MS Project and then Publish New and
Changed Assignments and make sure you mark Overwrite option check box. This
should close the task on both resources timesheets.
3) Have Resouce A go into theri time sheet and set 0 hours remaining.

Hope this helps.

I don't know why, but we do not have the Hide option available. It must've
been disabled.

Have you tried to "unarchive" the project and then make adjustments and
attempt to archive again?

Hi Lisa,

I call these tasks 0-0-0 tasks, 0 actual work, 0 work and 0 work
remaining. The best solution I've found so far for dealing with them
is to either delete the resource from the task in the project or ask
the team member to reject the task.

I really wish PWA would pick these tasks up as 100% complete when the
task is completed in the project, but I haven't been able to manage
that yet. (Of course, if someone out there has solved this issue,
please let us know!)

Is unarchiving simply undoing everything I did in the Archive? Is there a
specific order or instructions for unarchiving?

What I find is that whenever I remove a resource from the task, it remains on
their timesheet, with an X in front of it.

There's a SQL query that your DBA can run that will remove these from your
resources time sheet.

When I read through some of the posts in the past, it seems that some people
have encountered issues with running the query. We do have to retain all of
our historical hours for audit purposes. Also...if I want to unarchive, do I
just go back and undo all that I did to archive the schedule?

I would re-import the project back into the production environment to
"unarchive" it.

Yes. I would probably also use a different name so you do not lose any
history.
