TCP/IP address setting

I am setting up a new computer, I need to add an IP
address to it, so I can join a domain. Well everytime, I
add an IP address, it will give me an error "a duplicate
name exists on the network" I am sure I am not using the
same one. Any way around this... Thank you in advance.

use netstat -r on a command line to get the route table.
Use ipconfig /all for ip related information.
