Team lead responsabilities

I’m trying to figure out what are exactly the responsibilities of a team lead
in a project. I would like to know if that role fits the kind of people we
need in our company’s project management structure. We need is a small group
of people responsible to gather information from team members, compile it and
send it to project managers. This group of people should work using only
Project Web Access (and not Project Professional).

I did some experiences in PWA as a team lead. I tried to delegate (or
reassign, which I believe is the same thing) a task to a team member of a
project. This was possible, although I needed the approval of PM. After his
approval, in which ways can I, as a team lead, supervise team members work in
order to report to PM? Is it possible to ask for project request information
about that specific task? It seems that is possible to request a status
report to any team member, but not exactly associated with the tasks.

On the other hand, if the team member decides to voluntarily report, it
seems that is the project managers that receives the report /update and not
the team lead.

It seems that team lead cannot play a relevant role in the reporting process…

I’ll appreciate any help on this matter.

If you want the Team Leads to report on the tasks through PWA 2007, then
they must also be the assignment owner for the task. This places the tasks
on their MY Tasks page rather than the resource's My Tasks page. The "Team
Lead" role is not predefined in Project Server, you make it what you want it
to be.

Thanks Gary.

I did that as well and in fact the task disappears from the team member’s My
Tasks page and appears on the team lead’s. But in this scenario I still don’t
understand how the reporting process can be done between a Team Member and a
Team Lead.

More specifically:
1) How can a team member, which now is not able to view the task, report to
his team lead on that task?
2) By which means can a team lead ask for an update to that specific task?

Any suggestions are welcome.
