Team Leads rejecting task updates

Andy

I am using MSP 2002 Standard with 2002 Project Server. I have set up a
resource as a Team Lead and that resource has been delegating tasks. When
the resource with the delegated task sends an update to the Team Lead the
Team Lead still doesn't see any task updates on the update page, hence they
have no way to reject the update. All they can do is update the project
manager as to what their resource says was complete. The other option seems
to be to send a status request to the resource asking them to edit there
initial update. I have checked all of the permissions and it appears that
the lead should have plenty of access. Is the Team Lead suppose to be able
to Accept/Reject the task updates on the Update page as the project Manager
does?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
Andy

When the team lead delegates a task to another team member, he/she must do
the following on the Delegate Tasks page of PWA:

1. Select the team member to whom to delegate the task
2. Select "Yes" on the option to assume the lead role for the task
3. Select "Yes" on the option to continue to track this task on his/her
timesheet

From what you have stated, I suspect that your team leads are not doing
steps 2 and 3. If so, they are not performing the delegation correctly if
they want to accept updates from those to whom they delegated the tasks.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the response Dale,

The team lead is doing the steps that you describe below. They recieve an
email when the task is updated by the assigned resource, but don't have any
tasks to accept/reject on the update page in PWA. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Andy

They won't see the updates on the Updates page. They will see each
delegated task on their timesheet in PWA, and will see the actuals entered
by the team members there. The team lead must then select the task and
click the Update All or Update Selected Task button to submit the actuals to
the project manager. Hope this helps.
