Team Resource

Hi All,

Using PS 2007
According to this article
http://www.projectserverexperts.com/ProjectServerFAQKnowledgeBase/UseTeamResources.aspx
In this article write "after publish a project, task will appear in my task
page for each resource". but in my case...tasks appear in Self Assign Task
page (TeamAssignment.aspx) not in my tasks page (tasks.aspx), is it like that?

also in this article write, If resource take ownership of task and then
click Assign Task to Me, this action will removed the selected team task from
team tasks page for all team member...but in my case, task still appear in my
tasks team resource. And when i looked in Resource Name Coloum in MS Pro,
that action just add resource name in resource name coloum (i.e. reza,
DBA1)...not replacing. I already do task updates for this actions.

is there something miss in mine? please can someone give me more details
explanation about this....

thanks in advance

Hi reza,

there is no short answer to your question. I would recommend to talk to your
EPM adminsitrator to explain the difference between team resources and named
resource task assignment. Generally you would only find the task under "self
assign team task" if the resource chosen is a team resource, that must be set
up specifically, which I guess your organisation has done. Whoever set up
this feature should be able to answer your question in more detail.
Hope this helps

The FAQ you mention is a general description of the behavior of Team
resources. It is not meant to describe every possible scenario. Consider
the following scenario:

1. A project manager is a member of a Team resource.
2. The project manager assigns the Team resource to tasks in an enterprise
project, Proposal, or Activity plan.
3. The project manager publishes the enterprise project, Proposal, or
Activity plan.

Based on the above scenario, the Team task appears on the My Tasks page of
the project manager, but DOES NOT appear on the My Tasks page for any of the
resources that are a part of the Team resource and are members of either the
Team Leads group or the Team Members group. The Team task does appear on
the Team Tasks page for all of the resources that are a part of the Team
resource.

Regarding your second scenario, users in this newsgroup are seeing mixed
results when a resource self-assigns a Team task. In fact, I am seeing
different results myself since we wrote the first edition of the Managing
Enterprise Projects book two years ago. It appears that Microsoft may have
changed the default behavior of Team resources since pre-SP1 Project Server
2007. So, please understand that the FAQ you mention is not meant to be a
final and definitive description of the behavior of Team resources in every
situation. It is only a general description. You will need to determine
how Team resources behave in your own Project Server 2007 system and
document it for your project managers and team members.

But thanks for asking for clarification. Hope this helps!
