Technical formatting

I am working on a technical document that requires sections of source code
to be inserted into the document.

Given the following, what is the best approach to creating these sections?

They should:

- Stand out from the rest of the text (in books I've seen a gray background)
- The spell/grammar checker should be turned off for these sections but
still work on the rest of the document

Thanks,

That's quite easy. I think that the best way is to use Styles. To do
that, just write your first section of code. Then, format it as you want
to (gray background, font, size...). Then you can create an style just
giving a name to it.

In the Standard toolbar you will find a place where it should say
something like "Normal". Just click there, and put a new name, for
example, "Code". And you're done! You have created a new style called
Code that equals to the font, size, background and so on that you created.

Now, we only need to turn off the spell checker. Ok. Go to the FORMAT
menu, and choose the FORMATS AND STYLES option. It will appear a tool
box at the right of the document. There, you will be able to edit your
style. One of the options you can edit is the Language option. There you
will find a checkbox where to enable/disable the spell checker.

I am sorry because I can't explain it much better. First of all, my
English is not too good, then my Word is in Spanish and, finally, I
can't paste it screenshots that would help you very much. However, I am
sure that if you look for Styles on the help, you will find whatever you
need.

Hope it helps.

Jordi.
