Technical Refresh - Big Problems

K

Kaldanzia

My Office 2007 beta was working great, but I downloaded and installed the
Technical Refresh. After the update install, none of the programs could open
any files off my computer, all I get are messages that say whatever file I
was trying to open is unavailable.

So, I figured I'd uninstall and then reinstall from the original files, but
now I get an error when I try to reinstall from the original downloads and
the install fails. I really don't want to have to reformat my hard drive
just to get this stuff working again. Any ideas what is going on?

See http://pschmid.net/index.php for a list of B2TR problems and solutions. The most common ones are the Norton Office Plug-In and having the Expressions Web Designer beta also installed.

Your original error is due to a bug in B2TR with NAV. Check my website
under "File not found" for the workaround.
What is the error message you get from the install?
What did you remove?
Do you still have any Office 2007 programs on your computer?

Ah, I didn't even think about the antivirus. I was able to reinstall once I
uninstalled Visio and One Note as well. Evidently everything had to come off
before I could reinstall. I'm going to turn off the plug-in then reinstall
the Technical Refresh. Hopefully that will fix it. Thanks so much for your
help!!!!

Make sure to install Visio and OneNote before you install B2TR.
Once B2TR is on, you can't get any B2 applications installed anymore.

I spoke too soon, I'm getting the error again when I try to reinstall. The
error is:

Error 2711. An internal error has occurred.

That error usually means that you have a conflict between the Expressions Web Designer Beta and Office 2007 beta. Uninstall the EWD beta and then try again.

What Office 2007 beta (and other Betas) do you have installed on this system?

At this point I don't have any betas on my system. I uninstalled everything
after the problems with the Tech Refresh. Before this Office 2007 was the
only beta I had on the computer.

I'm paddling along in the same boat, going in circles with Error 2711. Used
Control Panel to uninstall. Tried to reinstall. Nothing. Checked on other
betas and the only one of the 2007 flock is Onenote.

Going to Control Panel shows that Office is installed... and it's not.

Time to go back to a roledex.
