Temp files

The temp files that are created when I save word documents are saved in the
same folder where I save the document and sometimes they do not close despite
closing the original document. How do I prevent these temp files showing up
every time I open a word document.

Word creates temp files for many reasons but it always opens a locking tmp
file in the active folder to make sure that the file is not opened twice.
Usually the temp files will be deleted, but if the temp files are created by
cut/copy/paste actions, they may not close until the system is closed as
they stay active on the Office clipboard.

Also, if you are using Word as your email editor, Word stays active in
memory for Outlook use, so although you 'think' you have close Word, it is
still actually running in the background and won't close until both Outlook
and Word are closed.

Finally, make sure that you have full permissions in the folder where you
are using your documents or the temp files will never clear because you
won't have delete permissions.

Thanks Terry, I guess I did try something of that sort (Cut/copy/paste).

However, just a while ago I have realized that the temp files are appearing
every time I open a saved doc due some changes in the folder settings. I
could sort out the problem by going to Start>tools>folder options>view>and by
clicking on the do not show hidden files and folders.
