Template and Compatibility Checker problem

When I open a Word doc sent via email from a PC running
Win2000/Word2000 the document opens fine and is properly formatted
using Word X.

But when I open the same file in Word 2004 the document is not
formatted correctly. The Toolbox flashes red and I get a
compapatibility report error message: "Word cannot find the template
attached to this document. To update the link to the template,
C:\Documents and Settings\John Doe\Application
Data\Microsoft\Templates\BBBB report.dot open with Templates and
Add-ins dialogue box".

Anybody else see this?

I'm not sure what you think the problem is. Word is asking you where the
template is. Tell it. m.

The problem is that the template is on a customers pc 2500 miles away
and only available via email. As a consultant it's tough to ask a PC
customer to send a template everytime you want to look at a file they
are giving you. Further this does not happen with the previous
version of Word - so there is something amiss in the 2004 version -
unless there is some setting somewhere.
