template and shape numbering

Hi

I was playing around with the "Number Shape" add-in while editing my new
template.
Now I get the Message: 'This file is opened read-only. Shape numbering
cannot be applied.'
everytime I open the template. Is there a way to get rid of this?

My guess is that the Number Shapes add-on inserted a Persisted Event into
your document. The easiest way to get rid of this is to save your template
as XML (.vtx extension) and then edit the file in a text editor to remove
the persisted event. Otherwise you can download the Visio SDK
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/visio) and use the Persist Events tool to remove
this.

Thank you for your tip. But there is no persisted event in the template at
all. Are the currently opened Add-Ons saved in the template. Is there a way
to verify that.

I'm not sure what distinction you are making between persisted events and
open add-ons. Documents do not track or remember what add-ons were running
when they were last saved. However, add-ons that explicitly want to be
reloaded when the document is reloaded can do so by putting a persisted
event in the document.
