Template Backgrounds

I have created several templates as Forms.

I want the background to be a different color for each template. I can
change the background color on the template but when you open a new document
from the template it is back to white.

I have gone as far as to create a macro that changes the background when
opened, but that does not work either.

Am I doing something wrong or is this not an option?

Thanks!!

Backgrounds in Word are primarily aimed at Web pages. Most printers are
incapable of printing backgrounds to the edge of the page. Having said that,
if you apply a background to a document template - even a protected form -
that background should be present when you create a new document from the
template. Is tools > options > view > background colours and images checked?

ah ha! I see the problem....
Althought my tools, options, view, background colors box is checked, it is
not checked on the computers of those who are opening the document

I have an AutoOpen macro that runs when the document is opened, so I will
write that option into the macro.

Thank you so much!!
