Template documents are "greyed out" when printed

I use a Brother MFC printer. I have noticed that when I use a Template docuement and then try to print it on this Laser printer; there are multiple areas that are lighter in print than the others. If I copy and past the document information onto a new docuement (not including the template highlights), then the document is much clearer without any light print. Any suggestions to get rid of this?
Otherwise the templates are going to be worthless to me.

"Areas" don't quite give me enough to go on -- what kind of "Areas"?

The new templates make extensive use of coloured text. If printed in
black-and-white, some of these components will print in grey tones.

Could that be it?

Have you checked the Brother site to see if there is an updated driver for
the printer?
