Template Does Not Open Automatically Wen I enter Visio

Today when I opened a new file (the Gantt chart), I got a blank work space
and not the template for getting started. I checked all the other forms and
the same thing happened. In the past, I only saw this whenever I closed a
file and tried to open a new one. But everytime I closed Visio and then
re-opened Visio, I always got the basic template with the questions on how
many rows I needed.

What am I doing wrong? I updated Visio with all the latest fixes to no avail.

I appreciate your help.

Thanks in advance.

Just for clarifcation...the template I am referring to is the sample Gantt
chart that I would answer the basic questions such as how many rows and then
it would create a blank Gantt chart ready to be completed.

Since my first request, I uninstalled Visio 2003 from my computer and then
reinstalled it. I sill get the blank graph paper looking page and no options
to create a Gantt chart from a sample chart. This used to work great.

It sounds like you've turned off the initial display of diagram types.
menu Tools -> Options ->
and on the View tab ensure
Choose Drawing Type Pane
is ticked.

You can select a new drawing at any time from the menu
File -> New -> Choose Drawing Type
choose Project Schedule and you will hopefully find your familiar
Gantt Chart.
