Template for Planned Preventive Maintenance Program? Anyone?

R

Rui Gomes

Preventive maintenance is a schedule of planned maintenance actions aimed at
the prevention of breakdowns and failures. The primary goal of preventive
maintenance is to prevent the failure of equipment before it actually occurs.

HELP ANYONE???!

Many thanks,

What is the question and what help do you want?

If you are asking for a template to use for building your schedule of
planned preventative maintenance ... Perhpas just a bit naive? Perhaps
better to build a plan from scratch which implements what your company
has to maintain, how they wish to maintain it, with whom they wish to
maintain it, etc? I doubt you'll find a template outside your company
that does it adequately for your company.

Preventative maintenance is... maintenance. Maintenance is not a project,
but an ongoing, open-ended effort. Project does not work well on
non-projects. I suspect that's why they named it "Project". :)

Hope this helps in your world.

The topic of "Preventative Maintenance" is far too broad for a template.
Preventative maintenance of what? An aircraft? a factory production line? A
nuclear power plant? An Automobile?

Although routine maintenance such as "Cleaning the building" are not
projects per se, I know there are some preventative maintenance activities
that are absolutely projects: They have a start/end date, a specific scope,
and money assigned. For example the "C" and "D" checks of an aircraft as
required by the US Federal Aviation Administration.

To find a template, you are best suited talking to your peers about the
types of things you want to include. You can also ask peers in other
companies and trade associations. Then you can develop your own template for
use in the future.

There're usage models for using MPP as a resource leveling scheduling engine
for Maintenance Scheduling, but usually as the front end for a CMMS like
Maximo. Probably wouldn't recommend using it as a stand alone Maintenance
Scheduling tool as there're better options out there.

These guys seem to have a niche business in this type of market: http://www.newstandardinstitute.com/catalog_seminars.cfm.
I am sure there're others too, but they've crossed my radar.
