Template locations in MSW2008

Processor: Power PC

I moved my Office 2004 templates into the "User Templates" folder for Office 2008. The templates duly appeared in the Project Gallery.

I opened one existing template, and modified it (back to the font selection in MSW2004 - why was that?), and saved it as a MSW2008 (dotx) template. However, it was stored in a new "My Templates" folder within the "User Templates" folder, and neither that folder nor the new template appears in the Project Gallery. I did not (wittingly) create the "My Templates" folder.

I can force a new template to appear in the Project Gallery by saving it to "User Templates", but the default location for saving of dotx templates appears to be "My Templates". How can I stop this?

Go to Word>Preferences>File Locations and adjust the location for User
Templates.
