Template previews taking long time to load

The previews have been VERY slow to load in the task pane. Sometimes it takes
up to two minutes for all of them to load. The templates are all located in
the same file, so I don't know why this is happening. This happens the first
time I run Power Point, but loads faster on subsequent runs.

I am running Power Point 2002 with SP3 on Windows XP with all updates. (This
is the version that came in the Student edition package.)

That doesn't make any difference. (I also don't use Outlook.) The annoying
part is my computer at work is basically the same as the one at home, but the
previews load almost instantaneously.

If you don't open Outlook before opening PPT, is it faster?

Okay. I was asking because Outlook's been kind of implicated -- at least
sometimes -- with a similar issue. But in that one, the thumbnails never
show up.

Anyway, you might take a look here:

Maybe some of the diagnostics and ideas there will help.
