Template Print Settings - Please Help

Kelly

Hi all, I am using the Office 2000 package.

I have created an Excel template that I have placed on a
shared drive for all of our 200 plus employee's to use.

We have probably 50 printers on the network to choose from
and each Printer has one or more PC defaulted to them. In
addition some laptops have the option of attaching a
portable bubble jet printer as well.

I created a Command button that automatically prints the
spreadsheet on the users default printer.

My problem is that sometimes the spreadsheet will fit on
one page and sometimes it will print on two pages Wide. As
the data only extends down and never gets any wider this
should never happen.

I tried to use "Page Set-Up" to default to .75 margins but
when other users open the template, or an instance of it,
and you look at "Page Set up" the settings are different??

They are 1.9 for the top and sides and 1.3 for Margin and
Header.

Even at this setting some of the printers fit it on one
page wide and others, like the bubble jet, print on two
pages wide?

Any ideas or suggestions where I can learn about
conrolling print defaults in a template?

Thanks everyone this group is great!

I think if you do File|Page setup|Page Tab

Fit to 1 page wide by (leave blank) pages tall

it'll work ok for you.

Thanks Dave, That worked great.

Ac couple of things for any one that is following along.

1. I figured out why my PC displayed .75 margins and many
others displayed 1.9 It was because I had my Windows
settings to US English and other users had their settings
on Canadian Metric.... Duh I never realized theirs was
displaying Metric and mine Imperial.

Anyway that never explained why when printing on some
printers it would print on two pages but maybe Dave's
suggestion will eliminate that problem.

2. Dave, you helped me solve something that I have been
struggling with for months! I found that when I switched
the page set-up options to "1 page wide" and left the
other blank, that the sheet prints almost immediately.
Before it took between 30 and 40 seconds to start to
print. That's when I had it set to print at 100%.

It was so bad I even experimented with a macro that just
did a screen capture and then printed that. I am glad to
be able to eliminate all that and have it print so fast
now!

THANKS DAVE!
