Template w/Style Protection Shared w/Mac

We have a template that we want to use the Style protection. We also want to
share this document with people on PCs and Macs. The problem is when someone
with a Mac opens the document, they cannot change anything, it is like the
document is read only.

We do not want people to change or add styles but they do need to add text
and use the styles that are there. This works well with the PC but not a Mac.
Does anyone have a solution for this?

Not all Word versions support formatting restrictions; in the versions that
don't, you won't be able to edit your restricted document at all.
