template with calculations

I am having a hard time writing formulas for calculations in a table. Is
there a template or document I can download that contains some calculations?
I really need this.

Calculations for how many calories are in that banana split you had for
lunch and how many laps around your recliner you'll need to make before you
burn those calories off?

It's not a bother but we would need more information to help you. We don't
even know which program you're using.

I evidently don't know how to use this discussion group. I started out
asking about Word 2000 calculations in tables. I don't how that thread got
lost. It is an old Word 2000 document. I am even older. Below is what I
have asked so far.

I am desperate. I can not get this to work. Is there any one out there that
can fix my document? I will gladly send it to some one.

Hi tphillips,

Did you use a field, or simply type the string in? You can't do the latter, as the field braces (ie '{ }') must be created in pairs
via Ctrl-F9 or Insert|Field.

I put in my field {=A2*D2+C2}. Now what?

Can I send the document to you, you put it in (so it works) and send back.
I'm just not getting it to work.

Hi tphillips

You could use a formula field coded as {=A2*D2+C2}.

For more information on how to do calculations in Word, check out my Word Field Maths 'tutorial', at:

I am trying to: qty * unit + flat. qty is in A2, unit is in D2, and flat is
in C2.
How do I write that formula?

I have Word 2000 and have only used it for mail merge letters. Calculations
in table is new for me.

Thank you.

There is help here, this is for Word 2003 but it is about the same in 2000
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/results.aspx?qu=calculation&sc=9&av=ZWD110
There are tables here, you might be able to modify one.

I'll be honest with you - if I had calculations involved, I'd use Excel. I'm
not an Excel guru but I'm getting better as I use it. I can now do stuff
that 6 months ago were over my head.

And I doubt you're older than 2000 years old. ;-)
