Template Wizards in Publisher 2000

Recently the Template Wizards (notably for Letterheadings) has stopped
working. On trying to load I get an error message saying Publisher could not
complete the operation. I am also unable to update personal information (if I
load a previous document with persoanl information and re save I get an out
of memory message in resoect od saving personal information).

This only recently started and to try and fix I uninstalled Disk 2 of Office
then reloaded. At that point Publisher worked Ok but after reinstalling the
Office Security updates the same problems reoccurred so I can no longer open
many wizards.

Any advice would be appreciated. I previously made a similar post but that
seems to have disappeared!!

No I do not have Norton but I do have McAfee but I have tried to repair with
it uninstalled.

The message I get when trying to open Template Wizards is "Publisher could
not complete the operation".

If I click update personal information, nothing happens at all and if I try
to save a document containing personal informatiion I get an out of memory
error (I have 1Gb of RAM so plenty of memory.

I am of the view that this is being caused by a secuity update (see first
message) - probably one of the latest ones. I have tried to get a comment
from Microsoft but it is like talking to a wall!

Thanks anyway

In the first Knowledge Base article I directed you to has the security update
that is causing problems. Did you try the solution?

A

No, I did not try that one as the article error description did not seem to
fit - I will try it later though!

Thanks

Hi, Yes this has solved the problem although the warning has to clicked at
least twice for the wizard/changes to oen/occur.

Thanks for your help

Good Afternoon:

The resolutions supplied are not working for me. I am a Windows XP user
with Office 2000 (including Publisher) installed. I really would not like to
uninstall a security update nor purchase a new program. The error messages
supplied in the solution also do not match the error I am receiving
("Publisher cannot complete the operation" is the EXACT wording). Any other
suggestions?

This is the only article that is in the Knowledge Base that has your error.
Windows XP is not addressed. Have you tried a detect and repair?

You receive a "Publisher cannot complete the operation" error message when you
import pictures in Publisher 2002 and in Publisher 2000

Certainly have. I have done detect and repair 6 times now and am really
frustrated. I am getting this error as part of attempting to use the
Publisher wizard - not with importing pictures. It seems everyone else is
getting this same error message, and it hasn't been directly addressed. This
article does not address this error in association with the startup of the
Publisher wizard, which is where the problem is. Would someone at Microsoft
kindly address this? Thanks!

You are using an old version of Publisher.

We are all volunteers here, if you want Microsoft support you will have to
contact them directly, either through the web page or the phone. It is not free.

It very well could be the clipart that is called on when you use a wizard is
missing or corrupt. Does your Clip Gallery work okay?
