Template: Word only lets me save a file as template not document.

I created a template in MS Word. When I double-click on the template it
always opens it as a template, not a new document. I used to be able to
create a template, then then each time I used, it would open it as a new
document. Now it opens the template instead. When I click on "Save as" it
shows me that it will save it as a template. I ran a thorough virus check and
everything came out clean. Any suggestions?

First you need to get it to open as a document instead of as a template.
Here's how to fix it:
--Open My Computer
--Hit Tools-->Folder options
--Click the File types tab
--Scroll down to DOT
--Hit Advanced (at the bottom)
--Make sure the action "New" is the default (bolded) action.
