Templates, Custom columns and Issues

Hi, we created a template and applied it to all the WSS sites. We created a
couple of custom columns to the Issues list. We are now trying to extract the
information from the Issues list using a web service. We do not get the
columns or the information thats stored in the custom columns back, but when
we create a column directly in the WSS site, we get all the information back.
Any ideas why this might be happening?

Thanks
Marina

Marina,
Did you:
1. Apply the template to project server in PWA admin?
2. Create the web site after you applied the template? Templates do not
effect sites that already exist.
3. Verify that the column exists in the issues?
4. If you application reads the database directly, are you reading the
correct field?

Hi,

Yes, we did all of the below. The template was created and applied before
any sites were created.
We are not reading from the DB directly, but we are using Web services. It
does not make sense; when we read this from the DB we get all the
information, if we use the Web service, we get none of the custom columns.

What is best practice? To read it from the DB or to use web services??
