Templates will not save as A4

All of my templates open in 'letter' size with zero header space at the top.
When I
change the default 'paper size' to A4 in the Normal.dot template the new word
doc (Word 2003) still opens in the 'letter size'. I have tried renaming the
Normal.dot to Normal.old so that Word will recreate a new one but the problem
remains. I have tried looking at "Why is my 'Blank Document' not blan?" but
didn't help solve the problem. Any further suggestions would be very welcome.

Hello-

All of my templates open in...

If the files with the problem are based on _templates_ (not Normal.dot) it
is because the page set up for the templates is set for Letter instead of A4.
The template files, themselves, need to be edited/revised & resaved so that
any future docs based on them will be as intended.

Thanks for responding. When I open the template as 'Normal.dot' the layout is
perfect; header space and in A4 format. It's when I open a new document the
problem starts. And I can't open any document withour the letter size and no
header space.

It sounds as if you have lost your "white space." Hover your cursor at the
top of the page until you see double arrows and the text about white space.
Click and you will have your white space back again. I hope this is helpful
to you.

Thanks - problem sorted - I can stop pulling my hair out now! Been using Word
everyday for the past 8+ years and first time I've heard of White space.
