Templates: Word 2003 > Formatting shifts when shared

Host computer:

MS Word 2003

Client computer:

1.2 Gb RAM
Windows XP SP3
MS Word 2003

A client asked me to create Word 2003 letterhead/envelope templates
for use on her computer. I requested copies of the fonts she would use
so there would be no compatibility issues in that arena.
When the completed templates were installed on her computer two issues
were apparent.

The typeface used for the letterheads is not the same on her computer
when the template is opened. The font selection window indicated that
the text is in the desired font however that is clearly not the case.
I had to select all of the header text, click on the desired font name
and the text reverted to that which was specified and expected. In
this instance, the job was local and I was able to do the corrections
myself for someone who does not know how to perform such tasks. Had
this not been a local client, the corrections would have had to be
done by the clients themselves causing them an inconvenience and
making me look less than professional in process.

Suggestions?

Secondly, after the templates were completed and opened -- both on my
computer and later, on that of the client -- the header containing the
formatted letterhead text was cut off from view; above the top of the
monitor. It was easy to see that the form on the screen was not a full
11 inches long. Only by clicking View> Headers/Footers did the upper
part of the form drop down and come into view.
I have experienced this same phenomenon with several of my own
documents (without headers) where the upper margin of the document
suddenly disappeared above the top of the monitor. In those instances,
it was not an issue since I could see my text in its entirety. Still,
I should like to know what is happening.

Suggestions?

Sincere thanks.

Word's Font box will always reflect the font applied to the text even if the
font is not available on a given system. Another font will be substituted
for screen display and printing. The likelihood here is that the named font
is not installed on the client's computer. Possibly the client has another
font with a similar name, and there was some miscommunication?

Perhaps someone could read the OP and offer suggestions for either or
both of the two issues about which inquiries were made.
Sincere thanks.

Well, I hadn't seen your second question originally, but the answer to that
is simple: see http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/WordFAQs/WhiteSpace.htm

The font problem is a bit of a mystery, though. If she actually sent you
copies of the fonts she was using (not just the names), and you used those
fonts, then it's hard to see how the problem could arise.

Thank you, Ms. Barnhill for your time and assistance. I apologise for
the delay in posting this note of appreciation.
