templates

I did like to know whatz a template and how does one use
it??

This is from a question that I answered a month or two back. It should
cover yours as well:

----------------
Put simply, a template forms the basis for a new workbook. When you
execute the command File -> New (NOT through the toolbar icon, but
through the menu; the toolbar icon generates a "standard" blank
workbook) you'll see a list of the templates that are available on
that computer. These are just normal workbooks which have:
- Been saved as templates (with an .xlt instead if .xls extension);
and
- Are usually located in a special templates folder, the location of
which varies from version to version of Excel and Windows. (When you
do "Save As" on the template and change the file type to "Excel
Template", the directory will normally change to the correct one
automatically.)

Once you've saved a workbook as a template, the next time you execute
the File-> New command and select that template, a new workbook which
contains all of the formatting, formulas and so on of the template
will be created. The new workbook is then on its own; no changes that
you make to the workbook will affect the template, and no changes that
you make to the template will affect the workbook.

If you want other users to be able to use the template, all you need
to do is copy it into their Templates directory.

In summary, then, a template is the way to go if you want to generate
completely *new* workbooks which are independent of the template that
you've created and can be saved separately, but which have, in the
first instance, inherited the formatting and formulas and structure
and perhaps macros of the template that you created. They are NOT the
way to go if you just need to have a *single* workbook which needs to
be cleared and reused each day or week or month.
