Terra Tabloid brochure issue

I am using the Terra Tabloid brochure template and something is throwing off the alignment when it comes to printing. I've tried it on both letter and legal and it looks like it's trying to print for 14x17. In print preview I get the following error when trying to shrink to fit: After serveral attempts Word was unable to shrink the document by one page. I'd like the page size to be 11x14. What can I do to resolve this issue?

Well, there are a number of factors involved here :)

The first of which is that the template you're using is defined for Tabloid
size paper which is defined at 11x17 (as a general standard). That
determines the document *page size* but the next factor is the actual *paper
size* specified on which to print that page. That has to be set in Page
Setup & is based on the capabilities of the selected printer - not every
printer can handle any size specification you arbitrarily "want" to use.

When you choose to print on paper of a different size than the document
specifications Scaling has to be imposed. That's not handled by the
Shrink-to-Fit feature - especially since your dealing with a Publishing
Layout document rather than a standard document. Shrink-to-Fit simply
condenses the font in a regular Word document to reduce it's length by no
more than 1 page. IOW, if the doc is 6 page letter plus a few lines or
paragraphs on a 7th page StF will "shrink it" to fit on 6 pages. That can
only be done in linear-running documents and doesn't work particularly well
- if at all - on *any* document that contains graphic objects (because they
can't be "shrunk") or variables other than plain text. So, for what you want
to accomplish...

Go to Page Setup & choose Tabloid as the Paper Size. If the selected printer
doesn't provide that in the Paper Size list select Any Printer or the
Acrobat Printer from the Format For list.

When you go to Print, open the Copies & Pages list, choose Paper Handling,
then select the option for Scale to Fit Paper Size. Open the adjacent list
and select the actual size of the paper you're going to print on if it's
something other than Tabloid. Just keep in mind that you may *not* be able
to specify anything there other than standard sizes accommodated by your
chosen printer.
