Text alignment problem in Word 2004

I am having another problem with Word 2004.

If I want to align some text such as a title or heading in the center
or flush right, I use Cmd-E or Cmd-R. However, when I do this, it
changes the justification for the whole document (including
everything before) to center or right. I have to remember to press
Cmd-Z, which returns everything but the line I want to align to the
original justification. This does not happen with Word 2003 unless
there is existing text and I go back to make an alignment change.

Is there some way to change the text alignment without affecting
the whole document?

Go to Format>Style, make sure "Normal" is selected in the list, then click
on the Modify button. In the new window, disable 'Automatically update' and
tick 'Add to Template'. Click on OK, then on Apply, and the problem should
be gone.
