Text autoselects

The option
onenote - options - handwriting - [ ] automatically switch between pen and
selection tool
is UNchecked.

Yet, when I change pens, what was just written is automatically selected. If
I write something and wait, after a while it is automatically selected.

Is this a bug or a feature?

It's Microsoft so it's never a bug. It's always a feature. ;^)

Actually, what you are seeing is very likely the Writing Guide being
displayed rather than the text being selected. If what you are seeing is
a gray block around all your text it is just the Writing Guide. You want
this to be on so you can see how OneNote is grouping your handwriting. If
what you are seeing is a blue background with white text then it is being
selected as you surmised. In that case something really is wrong. But I
doubt it is the latter.

It Is *not* the writing guide.

Do This: write something with the black pen. Select the blue pen, you will
see the black writing being selected the moment you select the blue pen. BY
BEING SELECTED IT IS MEANT THAT: THE BLACK TURNS WHITE WITH A BLACK BORDER
and the "sizing" tools are displayed around the "just written text"

The one note version running is 11.6350.6350 SP1 "Preview"

Hi Achílléz,

I think you are seeing two different problems. One is a bug, one is caused
by feature that has this side effect.

1) Changing pen show the selection
This shouldn't happen with the final SP1 to be released soon.

2) If you wait a while, it shows the selection
This happens when we release the file lock after one minute. If you are not
using your notes from multiple computers or in a shared environment, you can
disable or increase the delay in Tools->Options, Open and Save, Accessing
files from multiple location.

I just tried what you said and it did nothing. Based on your clue about
how the selected text looks I got a hunch and switched to 'Create
Drawings Only' mode and tried it again. This did what I think you are
seeing.

Those sizing tools, are there one on each corner and one on each side,
blue, and connected by a blue dotted line? If so, then what you see as
handwriting is actually being treated as a drawing by OneNote.

Considering what Benoit said about it being a bug that has been fixed,
and that it only happens for drawing ink rather than actual handwriting
ink I would say it should be tolerable for now. Just set your drawing
mode to 'Create Handwriting Only' instead of 'Create Drawings Only' or
'Create Both Handwriting and Drawings'. This is under {Tools / Pen Mode}.
