text block offset on both sides

I have a MS Publisher 97 and trying to print a rather large publication.
Each page is an 8.5 x 11 and I print on both sides of the sheet. I set the
same 1.25 margins on left and right. Nevertheless, when text is printed, a
text block on one side is shifted slightly against the text on the other
side resulting in about 0.25 inch offset. I changed from single to mirrored
backgrounds - no effect. I changed the Text Frame Property - no effect. What
causes this offset? How to make text blocks on both side of a page be
printed in the same place?
Thanks for the suggestions.

Are you trying to have these text boxes line up back to back when you print? Can't be
done in the normal way.
Rotating the contents of the second page 180 degrees and feeding it in
your printer basically upside down will work. I found this is prevents the shift.
You have to remember if you have images they will have to be flipped as well as
rotated.
This is a convoluted way of doing things. I have never figured out why this shift
takes place. With every printer I have owned, the above method is the only way that
it has worked for me. I remember once making magnet fish for a money raiser, I spent
hours trying to get the things to line up so when they were cut out they were back to
back.

Mary,
thanks for your suggestion. Yes, I'd like the text box on one side of a page
to line up back to back to the text box on the other side of this page.
Exactly the same task as you had with the fish! However, your task with a
single page was much easier than my - I have 160 pages of text and images...
It would be interesting to find out why this happens.
Thanks for your help.
