Text Box as a Bullet Pointed List

I would like to give the user the ability to enter text into a textbox as a
bulleted or numbered list. Anyway to do this.

The reason I am not using the bulleted list control is that the data source
is SQL and I don't have the option of designating the data source as
repeating (Because InfoPath doesn't support multiple table in the main data
source).

And I can't use a web service, because I have a disconnected user and
unwilling to setup IIS on 2000 tablet pc's.

Everything is geared toward web services, is there a point where they will
also support a direct connection to SQL, other than some pedestrian uses?
