Text box background colour changing without altering any settings.

I have created a slide in powerpoint with the text colour white. Previously
when I went to edit text, the text box background would be black so I could
see the white text. For some reason after I had saved the presentation and
gone back into it, the background in the text box had changed to white so the
white writing could not be seen when editing. I didnt change any settings to
do this. When I select the text, the parts where I have selected show in
black on the white text background, but the white words do not show. The
only way I can fix this is to go to format, text box and then without
changing any settings or doing anthing if I click ok the text box background
automatically changes back to black. Any clues on how to solve this?

Edit your color scheme so the background swatch and the text swatch
contrast.

That's the usual solution, but something about your question makes me think
this may not be the problem this time. Oh -- the auto contrast kicks in in
PPT 2002 and 2003, but if you're using PPT 2000, it won't. That could also
be the problem.

If neither of those is the issue, then do you have a picture inserted as
your background? How did you insert it? An autoshape with picture fill on
the master or by filling the background or what?
