text box beneath photos--how to get to for editing?

In earlier versions of PPT, I had no problem putting custom animation
graphics on top of the pre-formatted layout textboxes. I could just click on
a small area of the text box and it would come forward for editing. But I
find that in 2007, I can't do that. The only way I can get to the text box
for editing is to move all the animated graphics out of the way. I must be
missing something as this is clearly a big step backward for PPT. Can anyone
tell me how I can easily get to the text box for editing (without moving the
graphics layered on top or constantly telling PPT to send the textbox
forward?) Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks very much, Steve. I tried your suggestion below, which I did not know
about, but it does not allow me to see the entire text box below so I can
edit it. I can only see a corner of it here and there. I need something that
will allow me to bring it forward without going through a bunch of steps. As
I mentioned before, PPT 2003 did this with just a click in the box.

Thanks,
Laura

So, if I"m understanding you correctly, I now have to pay $70 for a
third-party software to do, less easily, what PPT 2003 and earlier versions
did with one click? Surely I am not the only one who uses custom animation to
move photos and graphics in and out of presentations and who will have no
ability to easily edit text beneath. Why would Microsoft intentionally remove
a feature that was so handy in earlier versions?

You can use the selection pane, which is a new feature in 2007.

The add-in Steve mentioned is free demo software. You don't need the full
software ever. The demo isn't time-bombed or anything. The free demo will do
what you need.
