Text Box Bugs

Hi

I'm trying to combine (concatenate) two documents, both with lots of drawings, tables, and text boxes in them. I've noticed an apparent bug: after I "insert file" to place the second document after the first, or even when I cut-and-paste the text boxes/drawings/tables from the second doc into the first one at a time ("by hand"), one text box in the original document will suddently contain text from a text box in the second document. So, for example, the text in a text box on page 1 will suddenly be replaced by the text from a text box pasted into page 4; if I edit the text in either, it will change both

Anybody familiar with this problem

I'm using Word 2002, with SP 3.

Check if the Text Boxes are linked. If yes, just Break the Forward Link (on
the text box toolbar, click the second icon).

Hi =?Utf-8?B?SmVy?=,

I've seen this come up regularly, and I don't know of any way to correct it,
exactly. The problem seems to originate in how the document manages drawing
objects, internally.

About the only thing I can suggest is:
- copy the first document into a new one WITHOUT the last paragraph mark
- do the same with the second document, into the new one

Thanks for the tips!

One text box in particular seemed to be the problem. I had to ungroup the gazillion-object group it was part of and figure out which one was the problem, but once I deleted it and replaced it with one just like it, and everything seemed to work fine. Wierd. I'll keep both tips in mind, though, because it's not the first time this has happened to me

I googled around a bit, and discovered that this bug has been around since Word 97

Thanks again!

Glad you got it fixed! And thanks for letting us know what was causing the behavior!
