Text Box can't be unprotected

Create a new excel document. Create a text field using the drawing tool bar. Set the properties of the text box to unlocked. Now protect the worksheet. The text box won't allow you to type in it. It doesn't retain its unlocked properties.

Works properly for me. When you protect the sheet, you need to uncheck the
choice for objects.

That is a fair work-around - thanks for that, but it isn't the way its supposed to work. Or at least it isn't the way 2004 worked. Just as you protect cell contents EXCEPT for the ones you mark unlocked, so you should protect object content except for the ones you mark unlocked.

Thanks again.

Actually, the Locked property works EXACTLY like XL04.

However, XL04 also has a Lock Text property which wasn't implemented in
XL08.

I've submitted a bug report.

Please let MacBU know this capability is important to you and needs to
be put back into XL08 via Help/Send Feedback.
