text box disappears when printed

Olivia Rodger

I created a flier in mac word 2001 using text boxes (frames). But the
text boxes won't print. In fact, it prints jibberish(emocations,
symbols, random letters and numbers) . I could pass it off as a
printer problem but I sent an attached copy to myself and all the text
was justified left instead of the placed in the boxes. What do I need
to do?

Wow!! Thats great. Yes, please check it out. If I still have a copy
in my folder somewhere, you'll get an email with an attachment.
thanks for the offer...

Hi Olivia,

I just checked out the document you sent me and here are my results:

First, the attached copy did *not* have all the text justified left. The
only problem I saw was that the margins are off; the text is too close to
the left margin, while the right margin has extra space. I'm afraid I have
no explanation for why the text was justified left when you sent the
document to yourself unless you didn't really mean justified left but rather
the same left margin issue I saw (?).

As for printing, no problem at all with the text boxes. The text at the
left was cut off because of the margin shift, but everything else was fine!

I can think of only two things that might be wrong with your setup. Check
Edit Menu> Preferences> Print and see if you have anything checked except
for Drawing Objects (which *should* be checked or your graphics won't
print). If you do, uncheck them and try again.

If that doesn't do it, then it has to be something to do with the printer
only I don't know what. Check all your printer settings. Do you have more
than one printer? If so, make sure you've selected the proper one.

Sorry I can't get to the bottom of this but if the text prints fine for me,
then it has to be something off in your setup. At least this may help you
pin it down.
