Text box - how to turn off formatting marks

L

Landy

I have a colleague with a strange problem I cannot fix.
He has a series of text boxes on a page (overlying photographs),
the text is ok, but they all show the "¶" symbol at the and of each
which apparently cannot be turned off. i.e. pressing the show/hide
button on the toolbar does not affect it.

Any ideas?
cheers

Tools - Options - View. Under Formatting Marks, remove the check next to
Paragraph Marks. Now, Show/Hide will toggle them.

If Show/Hide *still* doesn't toggle them, then we must consider the
possibility that the characters that produce pilcrows were actually inserted
into the document.

It's also possible -- albeit rather unlikely -- that the original
photographs and superimposed textboxes have been replaced with a screenshot
of same, captured when formatting marks were switched on.
