Text Box in a command bar

I would like to display some information in the command bar.I tried an
EditBox, but this is enterable and there seems no way to make it read
only. I have also tried a ComboBox, but again you can enter text and
also there is no way to disable the dropdown.

I'm trying to achieve something like the command bar in the VBA IDE
display, this shows the line and column number in what looks like a
non enterable edit box.

Any suggestions.
