Text Box in Word 2007

I use a text box to insert various words in a particular document. I remove
the border and place the box behind so that the edges don't overlap the
surrounding text. What I find is that when I go back to edit the text inside
the box or move it, I have a difficult time getting the text box to reappear
again and getting that "X" so that I could grab it and make any changes. I
tried right-clicking and double clicking but can't seem to retrieve it.

Please advise. Thanks.
