When I enter a value in a textbox such as "129" the value displayed on the form after I tab to a new field changes to "1.29E+02". The value recorded in my table is "129". Why is my form displaying this odd value?

It's not an odd value at all.
1.29E+2 is 129.
It's displaying the field value in Scientific format.

Change the Field (and/or Control's) Format property to General, Fixed,
Currency or Standard, whichever is appropriate.
