text boxes...this is driving me nuts!

Last week I worried out loud about text boxes behaving differently...I
cannot do the following two things simultaneously:
1. force text boxes to default to LH justified and have the box
describe a fixed width into which one types and wraps
and
2. have any settings I do attempt to fix with Rclick, default auto
draw...not eliminate the ability to then draw a shape with a non-white
outline!

What I have figured out since posting it is that this is not happening
in new documents, but only in documents that I created in powerpoint
X. This is true on any page that's old, any page that's created, and
the master slide. Is there any way to go back to 'zero' without
messing up exisiting presentations?

This is just baffling me and a brand new problem in going from one PPT
version to another. Anyone with any ideas? I would be grateful.

thanks

Here is a thought that sometimes fixes things like this on the Windows side.
It's worth a try. Try saving the old file as a web page and then opening the
web page with PPT 2004. This sometimes cleanses anomalies from files. It's
worth a try but hold onto the original just in case it screws up something
else.

HI
interesting idea...but it did not change things. I cannot change the
default text box alignment away from center justified. thanks for
suggesting.
