Text Boxes

When I place a text box into a worksheet, over a vertical
line, it looks fine until I do a print preview. When I
return to the worksheet, the box moves over into the cell
on the right. I want to use the text box to place an
equals, plus,or minus sign between numbers. I remove the
lines around the box in text box format and check the box
that says don't move or size with cells. Why is the text
box snapping over to the nearest cell and how can I
prevent it?
