Text Compressed in outline and preview

When in the normal view, the left column mirrors the font size from my
slide and compresses/overlaps the text so it is unreadable and way too
large. When you alter the font size on the slide, it changes it on
the left outline column. Also when previewing the slide it does not
scale it down to make a preview it just squishes all the text together
making a big clump of text that is worthless.

I can't figure out anything to fix this problem. I have reinstalled
the program 3 times and nothing works. Does anyone have any
suggestions?
