Text disappears on worksheet tabs

Using Excel X. If I launch Excel, a new spreadsheet shows the worksheet
names on the tabs. If I then launch my budget spreadsheet, the names on
the tabs are visible. However, if I launch Excel by launching my budget
spreadsheet, the names are not visible on any of the tabs.

This is something that has just started in the last few weeks and I cannot
recall anything that might have prompted it. As far as I can tell, it is only this
document and no other that displays this problem if it is the document that
launches Excel X

discovered that it was due to a conflich with Acrobat's PDF Maker plug-in
which was in the Excel startup folder. Once I removed it, the problem
disappeared.
