text disappears when i try to edit it

Hi,

I'm running Visio Standard 2002 (with SP2) on Windows XP. When I try
editing any text object in my files the text disappears and I have to edit
"in the dark" without even seeing what I'm typing. This is on a brand new
machine.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue?

I found the source of the problem: it seems to do this only when I have
created a layer. If I get rid of the layer, then all my text edits normally.
Not ideal still since I would like to lock elements on my pages, but at
least I have a workaround.

I would still be curious to hear if others have had the same issue!

I have the exact same problem. I have installed Visio Professional 2002 onto
2 Brand new machines, both running WXP Service Pack 2, and you cannot view
what you are editing.
I have tried installing Visio 2000 and then running the upgrade but this
does not work. I have now also attempted using your resolution but this does
not fix the problem as I am not using layers.


Anyone know how to resolve the Issue?
