Text distorted

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel

I run into an occasional problem where the text in a word document becuase distorted. In certain cases it appears cutoff towards the edge of the pages with omited words and phrases. Other times the text appears to be on top of each other. Selecting all the text, saving and then scrolling to another part of the page seems to temporarily fix it, but often the problem will reapear. In other cases the distortation will make the text appear one way until you start typing and then then your changes will pop up elsewhere in the doc. I have tried uninstalling Office and reinstalling with no change.

This is the "Lazy Redraw" bug that has been around in Word for about 20
years in various forms.

The quickest way to fix it is usually to flip into Draft View and back
again, to force the document to repaginate.

There's nothing wrong with your software, and nothing you can do to remove
the problem. This is a design bug in Word. It's not drawing the screen
properly.

Maybe the next version will be better, but it's unlikely that the problem
will ever go away entirely, due to the way Word is designed.

More memory in the computer can sometimes make the problem less frequent.
Changing the graphics card can sometimes make the problem less frequent.
But there's no sure-fire way to fix the issue.

Cheers
