Text does not justify on first line on page

Using Word 2002 on XP Professional, body text in a long
document is defined to justify. On the first line of some
pages (<10% of total pages), the text does not justify.

I've checked hard returns, retyped the text, reformatted
the paragraph, inserted a new paragraph break etc. - no
good.

Can anyone advise?

Solution related to using Insert Page Number on Insert
menu, suggested by Susan Barnhill, works! Simply, all the
time.
