Text fields in PWA Project Center Summary view

I have a number of projects that have been imported into Project Server 2003
and published. We are using Text1 as a field to hold our internal project
number. We would like to display this Text1 Field in the Project Center
Summary view but are unable to. I can select The Text1 field via the Manage
Views\Modify View\Project Center Summary View, and the resultant PC view even
picks up the the custom name "Project Number" but it will not show the value
contained in the field.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated

Text1 - filed from Enterprise Global Template? If not, you have to open Ent.
Gl. Template., define field Text1 as you need, (optionally) insert it in
view, in which you want to fill it in and save Global Template. Close MS
Project, open your project from server, fill this field and save it. Then you
can see it in modified you at PWA.

May be you can import your local fields to ent.res.global tmpl. - but I
don't know how :)

First verify that you should be seeing a Text 1 value at the Project Summary
level. It sounds like this is actually a task level value. Go to Project
Pro and open up a project, go to Tools>Options>View and check the box "Show
project summary task". If a number appears there than it should appear in
Project Center Summary view as well. If it does appear there but not in the
PWA view then try the following two options.

One would be to convert that Project Text1 field into an Enterprise Project
Text field. Create a Enterterprise Project Text field and name it something
but not exactly like the name of your Project Text 1 field. Then open up
all the projects and insert the new Enterprise Text 1 field next to the
Project Text 1 field and copy and paste the data over. Include the
Enterprise Text 1 field now in your Project Center Summary view.

Second option would be to do the following on each project. Open up a
project, go to Tools>Customize>Published Fields and add your Text1 field
from the left list to the right list. Text 1 will only show up in this left
list if it is a task level field in which case it will not show up in the
Project Center View.

Again, I am not sure if you are trying to show a task level text field or a
project level text field. Can you verify which one you are trying to show?

I assume I am trying to show a project level text field
Currently, in the Gantt chart view in Project Pro and I inserted the column
"Text1" that contains the value I want to display on PWA Project Center
Summary view. As described earlier, if I add the field to the view in the
admin section I can see the column but no value. I was looking for an easy
way to leverage the Text1 column and its value. If I need to create a new
field(Enterprise field) and copy and paste the value into it, then all of
this is a moot point.

hope this clarifys things

Bob,

What I think you have is a Task Level Text 1 field that you want to see
in the Project Center view in PWA. Project Center will only show one
Project Level value. Let me ask you what you would expect to see in
Project Center as the one value for Text 1 if you have different values
in that column for different tasks? Do you see where I am going with
this?

Can you first verify that you should be seeing a Text 1 value at the
Project Summary
level. Go to Project Pro and open up a project, go to
Tools>Options>View Tab and check the box "Show
project summary task". This will add a level 0 task line at the top of
the project representing a summary line of the project. If a value
appears there in the Text 1 column than it should appear in Project
Center Summary view as well. If it does appear there but not in the
PWA view then make sure you have published the plan. Go to
Tools>Collaborate>Publish>All Information.

Check and see if this is now showin in Project Center
