Text flashing across page when loading

Hi. When some of the site pages I built are loading text from text boxes
will flash across the top of the page for a moment until the page is fully
loaded. What causes that, and how can I get rid of it? I kinda wondered if
it might be interference from a java applet?

Depending on the page content and the browser and connection speed page
elements can be seen to shift as the browser loads the page. Since an applet
would add to the load time the short answer is yes.

Is there no way I can 'anchor' the text boxes so they don't shift?

If you are using version 2003 the page elements are coded in a fixed
position. But again what you are seeing is the browser building the page.
The browser reads the html code top down and renders the page. Sometimes
page elements can be seen before the browser completes the positioning. If
that's a problem for you then spend some time rethinking your design and the
end effect on load time and/or consider using a html editor versus
Publisher.

David,
I am having the same problem. However, I believe there is some trick that
we just haven't figured out yet b/c some of my pages do it and some don't. I
am running the fastest internet connection possible and it shouldn't take any
time whatsoever to load the page. Pls see www.beverlylane.com. For some
reason, on the home page, the text box appears in the upper left for a second
or two before putting it in the right spot. It was doing the same thing on a
few other pages. I put a blank text box on one of the pages and that one
stopped doing it. Tried the same thing on the home page, however, and it
won't stop. Very weird and frustrating! I am spending way too much time
trying to fix this problem.
