Text Format

G'Day Mates,
My dilemma is that row 1 has a height of 7 to accommodate for a dashboard
of formulae (Subtotals etc for my database). As the header list is also in
row 1 and formatted> vertical> bottom> wrap text. If I type Sales 2004, when
I turn on auto filter it is to cluttered on the same line as the arrow. I
would like to type in Sales 2004 then some spaces and a character so that
the text would wrap up one line (in the same row). How can I leave the
bottom of the text wrap blank. What is the character I can type or what
alternatives do I have to accomplish the same task
Regards Paul.

Hi Paul-

Would it give the effect you want if you use Format>Cells...>Alignment, set
Vertical Alignment to Top for those cells?

Thanks for reply but then Header would be above the graphics, a bit harder
to select filter. Tried Vertical alignment to centre then filled in spaces
before column header to try to wrap down, to no avail. Works with option 8
as character in first instance. This puts a bullet next to filter arrows.
Would rather it be blank though. A typed character that does not show would
be preferable.

Paul,
I usually align-left these cell.
Alternatively, you can add blank lines : edit the cell, place the text
cursor at the end of "sales 2004" and press CMD+OPTION+ENTER 2 or 3
times to iad 2 or 3 blank lines.

You could type in the 'spacer' characters, select only them & change
the font color to White. The _downside_ of that is the additional
content typed in the cell would be an actual part of the column caption
& may cause other concerns further down the road.

If I understand correctly, the real source of the problem stems from
the fact that the width of certain columns is insufficient when the
AutoFilter is turned on. If so, and you don't want to permanently widen
the columns, I would create a Custom View that would include the AF
with widened columns & one with AF Off, normal widths.

Just love this forum. Always get the answer. CMD+OPTION+ENTER - How easy was
that. Thanks once again.
Regards Paul.
